General Assembly sees honorary member elected and Christmas Seals announced
At last night’s General Assembly, resolutions were passed including the 2016 Annual Report, the treasury report and the proposed budget for 2018. Union members also heard the President’s report from the past year.
Members elected individual member representative: Dr Jeremiah Chakaya, Richard W Shepro and Dr Ivan Solovic. Members also elected Ral Antic as region representative for Asia Pacific Region, and Victoria Cook as region representative for North America Region.
Dr. Joseph Amolo Aluoch from Kenya was made an Honorary Member of The Union. The title of Honorary Member of The Union is granted to a person who has become distinguished through active participation in The Union's activities and the fulfilment of its goals.
Dr. Aluoch has been active in The Union since the mid-1970s when he was the Coordinator of the National TB Control Programme in Kenya. He has been a long-term friend to The Union and advocate for the mission of The Union.
Heritage and Organisational Members from eight countries participated in this year’s Christmas Seals Exhibit and Contest. Union members voted for their favourite seals either online or on The Union Village.
Announced during the General Assembly, the Christmas Seals winners were:
1st prize: Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association
2nd prize: Korean National Tuberculosis Association (KNTA)
3rd prize: The Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association
